    Meet your Mentor!

I’m Jeanetta and I am here to help you!

I have over 20 years of experience as a creative professional (I am older than I look haha). Seriously, I have worked as a graphic designer and art director for 20 years before I transitioned into being a full time illustrator, surface pattern designer and mentor. I have a TON of experience working in-house and as a creative entrepreneur and as an illustrator and surfacce designer for large brands such as Michaels, Target, TJ Maxx and Mattel. I am here to spoil you with all my knowledge and skills.

MY BACKGROUND: I left a small town in New England to venture to the bright lights and big city of Los Angeles to attend college at UCLA. I graduated many moons ago with a degree in fine art and then after many odd jobs decided it was time to go back to school for design. I graduated from a small design college in Long Beach with a degree in Visual Communications and hit the ground working as a graphic designer in several industries over the years. I’ve seen it all - small boutique firms, large corporations and start ups. I’ve worn many hats, had to be quick on my feet and a fast study leaning the job on my own. I’ve worked on some incredible projects and some not so incredible. I’ve been thrown all sorts of curveballs, seen projects I loved get cut, be put on projects last minute to save the day and work long long hours to do all the tasks and duties they threw at me. I have developed a lot of techniques to work efficiently, problem solve and find the spark in my work when it died from burnout.

Working for myself has it’s own challenges and I have been there done that too such as financial ups and downs, exhausting and disappointing tradeshow experiences, giving my all to see failure, building my brand and brand awareness, putting myself in lots of uncomfortable work situations and in new experiences to stretch, working with terrific and terrible clients and lots of highs and lows to emotionally and mentally navigate. I have taught surface design and social media at two art colleges here in Southern California, Otis College of Art & Design and Art Center College of Design. I started coaching artists 1-on-1 in 2016 when I was approached by an artist who needed help with her art and career. I was terrified to help her - who am I to coach her? BUT I surprised myself and she had a major transformation - she found joy in her work and practice, scored some dream jobs and met goals. From there I’ve gone on to confidently guide many artists from all over the world who come to work with me.

I’m coming in hot with all I know and can teach you. I can see exactly where you are in your journey and help you with next steps to navigate it smoothly. Looking forward to working with you!

“As a fan of Jeanetta’s work for several years, I was so excited when I received her newsletter to read she was offering business coaching sessions for artists. Jeanetta is a pro and she is very down to earth and made me feel super comfortable…she offered me so much value and great feedback for my art and career both what was working well and what I could improve upon. I came away feeling really excited about the ideas to implement and feel I’ve got a great blueprint of what my next right steps are.

I was fortunate to have found Jeanetta. Our consultation was extremely helpful and informative. Her kind and precise words guided me in how to further my art career as well as find motivation, something that has been missing for some time. I’m looking forward to using the knowledge Jeanetta gave to get a jump start into my art career.
    — Jonathan Faber
My session with Jeanetta was everything I’d hoped for - she gave me a good understanding of where I am in my career, what to concentrate on and what not to bother about for the time being. She is warm and professional and I came away with a clear direction and a lot of encouragement.

      FAQ

      • This is for artists, surface designers and illustrators. I have expertise in illustration and surface design and will be offering a lot of trainings for those disciplines. I do have some knowledge of fine art, fashion and craft/maker industries if you are not an illustrator or surface designer. I will need to review your application to see if I can help you.

MANDATORY: You MUST have a body of work for me to review and is helpful if you have begun trying to monetize it. Unfortunately I can not work with artists who are in the very beginning of their career and do not have a lot of work to share. We will be critiquing your current work and helping you move forward from a more intermediate level.
